ఒకరోజు నాకు బాగా సన్నిహితుడైన ఒక పెద్దాయనతో జ్యోతిష్యం గురించి మాట్లాడుతున్నాను, రవి పాపగ్రహం కదా ఆయనని గ్రహరాజుని ఎందుకు చేశారు అని నన్ను అడిగారు.

ఆ రోజు నేను సమాధానం చెప్పలేకపోయాను. ఇన్ని శుభగ్రహాలు ఉండగా మహర్షులందరూ సూర్యుని ఉపాసన చేస్తూ జ్యోతిష్య గ్రంథాలు రచించారు. ఎందుకనేది నాకు అర్థం కాలేదు అన్నారాయన. దీనికి సమాధానం ఈ వ్యాసం అయ్యేవరకు మీకు అర్థం అయిపోతుందిలే.

గ్రహాలు కాంతిని ప్రసరించడం లేదా పరివర్తనం చేయడం చేస్తాయి, జన్మజాతకం గ్రహ ఆధారితమైనది కాబట్టి కాంతి లేని జీవితం చీకటి అవుతుంది. కొన్ని సందర్భాలలో చీకట్లో దీపంతో జీవిస్తాం, దీపం వెలుగు సూర్యకాంతితో ఎన్నటికీ సమానం కాలేదు.

ఒక చిన్న ఉదాహరణ చెప్తాను, ఇది ఎలా అనేది మీకు ఇంకా పూర్తిగా అర్థం అవుతుంది.

పరమానందయ్య గారి శిష్యుల కథ అందరికీ తెలిసే ఉంటుంది, వారందరూ పూర్వ జన్మలో ఋషులు, అడివిలో రాత్రిపూట నడుస్తూ మరో ఋషి యొక్క తపస్సు భంగానికి కారణమైనందుకు, ఆ మహర్షి తన పట్ల జ్ఞానం లేకుండా ప్రవర్తించినందుకు ఆ ఋషులని తింగరివాళ్ళగా పుట్టమని శపించారు.

ఋషులందరూ ప్రాధేయపడగా ఆ మహర్షి ఒక శాప విమోచనం ఇచ్చారు, మీరు జ్ఞానవిహీనులైనప్పటికీ మీరు చేసే పనుల వలన ఏ జీవికి అపాయం కలగదు, లోక కళ్యాణార్థం మీ పనులు ఉపయోగపడతాయి అని వరమిచ్చారు.

దీన్నిబట్టి మనం అర్థం చేసుకోవాల్సింది, జాతక చక్రంలో ఒక వక్రత్వం వంటి శాపానికి విమోచన వచ్చినప్పటికీ కొంత శాతం ఆ భావం సరిగ్గా ఉండదు.

చిన్న ఉదాహరణతో చెప్పాలంటే చక్కరపొంగలి తినాలనుకున్న వాడికి అరటి పండుతో సరిపెట్టుకోమంటే, రెండు తీయగానే ఉంటాయి కదా అంటే ఒకే రకమైన ఆనందం దక్కదు కదా.

మనం ఇప్పటివరకు ఎన్నో సూర్య, చంద్ర గ్రహణాలను పరిశీలించి ఉన్నాం, జ్యోతిష్యం తెలియకపోయినా గ్రహణాలు తెలియని వారు ఉంటారని నేను అనుకోవడం లేదు.

సూర్యుడు స్వయంప్రకాశిత గ్రహం, గ్రహణం రోజున ఆ యొక్క కిరణాలు భూమి మీద పడవు, ఇదేవిధంగా ప్రపంచం ఎల్లప్పుడూ ఉంటే భూమి మీద మనుగడ సాగదు. ఇప్పటికే వెలుగు ఎంత ముఖ్యమో అనేది మీకు అర్థం అయిపోయింది అనుకుంట.

ఖగోళ శాస్త్రం గురించి నాకు అర్థమైనంత వరకు సూర్యుడు యొక్క స్వయం ప్రకాశిత కిరణాలు సూర్యుడి చుట్టూ ఒక కక్షలో తిరిగే ప్రతి గ్రహం మీద ప్రసరిస్తూ ఉంటాయి, తిరిగి ప్రతి గ్రహము పరివర్తన కాంతిని కలగజేస్తుంది, అది తిరిగి భూమి మీద కూడా పడుతుంది.

కొన్ని ప్రత్యేక సందర్భాలలో ఇతర గ్రహాలు సూర్యుడు నుంచి దూరంగా వెళ్ళినప్పుడు సూర్యుడి యొక్క కాంతి వాటి మీద సరిగా ప్రసరించకపోవడం కానీ, భూమికి సూర్యుడికి మధ్య ఇతర గ్రహాలు అడ్డు రావడం వల్ల కానీ భూమి మీద ఆ ఇతర గ్రహాల కాంతి కిరణాలు సరిగా పడకపోవచ్చు. దీనినే కొన్ని సందర్భాలలో గ్రహణం గానీ, వక్రత్వం గానీ అని పిలుస్తారు.

కాంతులేని జీవితం ఎలాంటి నరకమో, గ్రహాలు గ్రహణం బారిన పడిన, వక్రత్వాన్ని పొందిన, రాహు కేతువులతో కలిసిన అది ఒక శాపంగా నేను భావిస్తాను.

భూమిపై నుంచి చూస్తుంటే గ్రహాలు వెనక్కి వెళుతున్నట్టు కనిపిస్తూ ఉంటాయి. అందుకే దానికి వక్రత్వం అనే పేరు వచ్చింది, నిజానికి గ్రహాలు ఎప్పుడు వెనక్కి వెళ్ళవు.

రవిచంద్రులు ప్రత్యక్ష దైవాలు వాళ్ళు ఎప్పుడు వక్రించరు. రాహు కేతువులు వక్రించి వెనక్కి వెళ్లడమే వారికి సవ్యమైన మార్గం.

మిగిలిన పంచతారగ్రహాలు వక్రీస్తు ఉంటాయి. ( కుజ, బుధ, గురు, శుక్ర, శని ) రాసి చక్రంలో కుజ, గురువు, శనులు ఉన్న రాశి నుంచి 120 డిగ్రీల దూరంగా సూర్యుడు ఉన్న దాదాపు వక్రిస్తారు.

బుధుడు (Mercury)

సంవత్సరంలో 3-4 సార్లు వక్రత్వం
సుమారు 24 రోజుల పాటు

శుక్రుడు (Venus)

ప్రతి 18 నెలలకు ఒకసారి
సుమారు 42 రోజుల పాటు

కుజుడు (Mars)

ప్రతి 26 నెలలకు ఒకసారి
సుమారు 60-80 రోజుల పాటు

గురుడు (Jupiter)

ప్రతి 9 నెలలకు ఒకసారి

గ్రహాలన్నిటికీ వక్రత్వదోషం

రాశిచక్రంలో రవిచంద్రులకు ఏకాధిపత్యము, మిగిలిన పంచ గ్రహాలకు రెండు రెండు రాశులు చొప్పున పంచారు.

ఏ రాశ్యాధిపతి అయితే వక్రతదోషాన్ని పొందుతాడో, లగ్నము నుంచి ఆ భావములు సరైన ఫలితాన్ని ఇవ్వవు.

రవిచంద్రులతో సహా అన్ని గ్రహాలకి వక్రత్వదోషం ఏ విధంగా కలుగుతుంది అనేది నా పరిశీలన, కేవలం నా ఆలోచనతో మీ ముందు పెడుతున్నాను, నచ్చితేనే వాడుకోండి.

Note

Node Association (రాహు/కేతువులతో ఒకే నక్షత్రంలో ఉండటం) కూడా (-) గానే పరిగణించబడుతుంది.

ఎక్సెప్షన్ రూల్స్ (Rule 5 & 6)

మీ కాలిక్యులేషన్ లో ఫలితం (-) BAD వచ్చింది అనుకుందాం. వెంటనే ఆ గ్రహాన్ని తీసి పక్కన పడేయకూడదు. ఈ క్రింది రెండు కండిషన్స్ చెక్ చేయాలి:

డైనమిక్ వక్రత్వ నియమాలు (Progressions)

ఇది అడ్వాన్స్డ్ టెక్నిక్. గ్రహాలు పుట్టినప్పుడు ఎలా ఉన్నాయో అలానే ఉండవు. ప్రోగ్రెషన్స్ (Progressions) లో మారుతాయి.

డైనమిక్ రూల్స్

1. Direct to Retro (ముందుకు వెళ్లి వెనక్కి వస్తే):

గ్రహం జన్మతః డైరెక్ట్ గా ఉన్నా, ప్రోగ్రెషన్ లో వక్రిస్తే (Retro), అప్పటి నుండి దానికి "వక్రత్వ నియమాలు" వర్తిస్తాయి.

2. Retro to Direct (వెనక్కి వెళ్లి ముందుకు వస్తే):

జన్మతః వక్రించిన గ్రహం ప్రోగ్రెషన్ లో డైరెక్ట్ (Direct) అవ్వచ్చు.

నియమం: గ్రహం డైరెక్ట్ అయినా సరే, అది "జన్మ జాతకంలోని డిగ్రీని (Natal Degree) దాటేంతవరకు" మనం ప్రోగ్రెషన్ లోని పొజిషన్ నే తీసుకోవాలి.

ఉదాహరణ

శని 16° వద్ద వక్రించి పుట్టారు. ప్రోగ్రెషన్ లో డైరెక్ట్ అయ్యి 15° కి వచ్చాడు. అప్పుడు 15 డిగ్రీస్ ని పరిశీలించి రూల్స్ అప్లై చేసి Consider చేయాలి. 16 దాటి డైరెక్ట్ లో ఉంటే, 16 నే Consider చెయ్యాలి.

ఆచరణాత్మక ఉదాహరణ (Practical Example)

చార్ట్ వివరాలు:

  • గ్రహం: రాహువు (Rahu)
  • స్థితి: రాహువు ఎప్పుడూ వక్రగతిలో ఉంటాడు (Default Retro). కానీ RVA లో రాహు/కేతువులకు (+) PLUS (Default) ఇస్తాం
  • స్టార్ లార్డ్: శని (Saturn)
    • శని వక్రించాడు (-)
    • శని నక్షత్రంలో రాహు/కేతువులు లేరు (+)
    • శని ఫలితం = (-)
  • ఫైనల్ గణితం: రాహువు (+) x శని (-) = (-) MINUS
  • ఫలితం: రాహువు బలహీనంగా ఉన్నాడు (30 Marks)

ముఖ్య గమనికలు & హెచ్చరికలు:

  1. రవి, చంద్ర, రాహువు, కేతువులు వక్రించరు: వీటికి ఎప్పుడూ డిఫాల్ట్ గా (+) ప్లస్ వేసుకోవాలి.
  2. బల్క్ కాలిక్యులేషన్: ఒక చార్ట్ ని చూసేటప్పుడు ఈ రూల్స్ అన్ని గ్రహాలకు అప్లై చేసి, ఏవి పని చేస్తాయో ఏవి చేయవో ముందే లిస్ట్ అవుట్ చేసుకోవాలి.
  3. ఎక్సెప్షన్ పవర్: ఒక గ్రహం వక్రించినా, అది 1, 2, 10, 11 భావాల్లో ఉన్న స్టార్ లార్డ్ ని కలిగి ఉంటే, దానికి 80% బలం వస్తుంది.

మనం "వక్రత్వ గణితం" (Retrograde Math) లో ప్రాథమిక సూత్రాలైన ప్లస్/మైనస్ (Rule 1-4) గురించి తెలుసుకున్నాం. ఇప్పుడు దీన్ని మరింత లోతుగా, "ఎక్సెప్షన్స్" (Exceptions) మరియు "డైనమిక్ అనాలసిస్" (Dynamic Analysis) ద్వారా ఎలా చూడాలో నేర్చుకుందాం.

ఒక గ్రహం బలాన్ని (Light) పూర్తిగా నిర్ణయించడానికి మనం వేయాల్సిన స్టెప్స్:

  1. Static Check: జన్మ జాతకంలో గ్రహం + స్టార్ లార్డ్ (Minus x Minus formula).
  2. Exception Check: స్టార్ లార్డ్ 1, 2, 10, 11 లో ఉన్నాడా? లేదా గ్రహం ఉచ్చ/స్వక్షేత్రమా?
  3. Dynamic Check: ఇప్పుడు జరుగుతున్న సమయంలో (ప్రోగ్రెషన్స్ లో) ఆ గ్రహం వక్రించిందా? లేక డైరెక్ట్ అయ్యిందా? (ముఖ్యంగా బుధుడు, శుక్రుడు, కుజుడు విషయాల్లో ఇది చాలా ముఖ్యం).
Summary

ఈ మూడు స్టెప్స్ వేస్తేనే మనకు ఆ గ్రహం రిజల్ట్ ఇస్తుందా లేదా అని 100% క్లారిటీ వస్తుంది.

యోగము vs భావం

చాలా వరకు లగ్నాలకు అష్టమాధిపతి పాపి అవుతాడు, అయితే అష్టమాధిపతి బాగోపోతే ఆయుర్ధాయం ఉండదు, అంటే దీని అర్థం అన్ని అధిపతులు తమ భావాలు చెడిపోకుండా ఉండాల్సిందే, లగ్నమునకు వీరు పాపులు వీరు శుభులు అని సంబంధం లేదు.

భావము అనగా మనం ముట్టుకోగలిగేది, అనుభవించగలిగేది, యోగమనేది ముట్టుకోలేము, కానీ అది కావాలి.

లగ్నమునకు శుభులు వక్రించిన భావము, యోగము రెండు ఫలితాలను పాడు చేస్తారు, లగ్నమునకు పాపి వక్రించిన భావము చెడిపోయి యోగ ఫలితాన్ని పెంచుతాడు.

ఒక గ్రహానికి వక్రత్వ దోషం వచ్చింది, ఆ దశలో అన్ని దైవ నిర్ణయాలని వదిలేసి, జరిగే విషయాన్ని గట్టిగా మార్చాలని నిర్ణయం తీసుకోకుండా ఉంటే చాలు, దాదాపు అంతా మంచే జరుగుతుంది.

పాశ్చాత్య జ్యోతిష్యంలో వక్ర గ్రహాలు

రాబోయే వ్యాసాలలో దీని గురించి పూర్తిగా మాట్లాడుకుందాం, మీరు మళ్ళీ తిరిగి వెనక్కి వచ్చి ఇది చదువుతారని ఆశిస్తున్నాను.

ముగింపు

నాకైతే మాత్రం జ్యోతిష్యంలో వక్ర గ్రహ దోషం అనేది Game Changer లాగా అనిపిస్తుంది, మీరు అవుతుంది అనుకున్నది కాదు, కాదు అనుకున్నది అవుతూ ఫలిత జ్యోతిష్యాన్ని తారుమారు చేసేస్తుంది. నేను దీన్ని చాలా తక్కువ సమయ వ్యవధితో ఉన్న జాతకాల మీద వక్రత్వాన్ని పరిశీలించాను.

ఒక గ్రహం వక్రిస్తే ఋజుమార్గం (direct) పొందడానికి చాలా రోజుల సమయం పడుతుంది. ఉదాహరణకు ద్వితీయాధిపతి వక్రించిన మనం రోజు భోజనం చేయడం మానం కదా, మహా అంటే కొంచెం ఆలస్యం అవుతుంది. అలాంటప్పుడు ఏ లగ్నం జరుగుతుంది ఆ లగ్నానికి ఆ వక్రించిన గ్రహం లాభం లోకి వెళ్ళిందా లేదా అనేది ఒకసారి పరిశీలించే ప్రయత్నం చేయండి.

అందరి జీవితంలోనూ అన్ని ఉండవు, కానీ కొన్ని సందర్భాలలో గ్రహం వక్రించినప్పుడు ఆ విషయాలు వాళ్లకి అనుకూలంగా ఉన్నట్టు అనిపిస్తూ ఉంటుంది.

Simple గా చెప్పాలంటే ప్రతి రోజు గొడవ పెట్టే భార్య ఈ వారం రోజులు చాలా ప్రేమగా మాట్లాడినట్టు అనిపిస్తుంది.

పూర్తిగా ఈ వ్యాసం చదివాక కూడా ఒక దశని, ఒక భావాన్ని ఎలా విశ్లేషించాలని అనేది ఇంకా అర్థం కాలేదు అనిపిస్తుంది కానీ ముందున్న వ్యాసాలలో భావము మరియు దశ విశ్లేషణ గురించి ఇంకా వివరిస్తాను.

Introduction

One day, while discussing astrology with a close elder, he asked me: "Sun is a malefic planet, so why was he made the King of Planets?"

I could not answer that day. Despite so many benefic planets existing, all the Maharshis worshipped the Sun while composing their astrological treatises. The answer to this question will become clear by the end of this article.

Planets emit or transform light, and since birth charts are planet-based, a life without light becomes darkness. Sometimes we live with a lamp in the dark, but lamplight can never equal sunlight.

Let me give a small example to make this even clearer.

Everyone knows the story of Paramanandayya's disciples. They were all Rishis in a previous birth who disturbed another Rishi's penance while walking through the forest at night. That Maharshi cursed them to be born as fools for behaving without awareness of his presence.

When all the Rishis pleaded, the Maharshi granted a redemption: "Even though you will lack knowledge, your actions will cause no harm to any being, and your deeds will serve the welfare of the world."

From this we should understand that even when a curse like retrograde is redeemed in a birth chart, that house's significations will not function at full capacity.

To put it simply - if someone craving Chakkarapongal is told to make do with a banana, both are sweet, but the satisfaction is not the same.

Darkness & Light

We have all observed many solar and lunar eclipses. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't know about eclipses, even without knowing astrology.

The Sun is a self-luminous body. On the day of an eclipse, its rays don't reach Earth. If this were permanent, life on Earth would be impossible. By now, you must understand how important light is.

As far as I understand astronomy, the Sun's self-luminous rays fall on every planet orbiting it. Each planet then produces reflected light, which also falls on Earth.

In certain special circumstances, when other planets move far from the Sun, the Sun's light may not properly fall on them, or other planets may come between Earth and the Sun, causing the reflected light of those planets to not reach Earth properly. This is what we call eclipses or retrogression in different contexts.

A life without light is like hell. When planets come under eclipse, become retrograde, or conjoin Rahu-Ketu, I consider it a curse.

When observed from Earth, planets appear to move backward. That's why it is called "Vakratva" (retrogression). In reality, planets never actually move backward.

Sun and Moon are direct deities - they never retrograde. Rahu and Ketu moving backward is their natural direction.

The remaining five planets (Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn) undergo retrogression. In the zodiac, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn tend to retrograde when the Sun is approximately 120 degrees away from their position.

Retrograde Defect for All Planets

In the zodiac, Sun and Moon have single lordship, while the remaining five planets are assigned two signs each.

Whichever sign lord acquires retrograde defect, the houses ruled from the Lagna will not give proper results.

How retrograde defect affects all planets including Sun and Moon is my own observation. I'm presenting it before you as my understanding - use it only if it appeals to you.

For this, I have prepared a Flow Chart. Through this, you can easily determine whether a planet has retrograde defect or not. Let's discuss every aspect mathematically in detail.

Step-by-Step Algorithm

To determine whether a planet has "Light" or not, a precise method with 5 rules has been provided.

Exception Rules (Rule 5 & 6)

Suppose your calculation yields (-) BAD. Don't immediately discard that planet. Check these two conditions:

Star Lord Position Is the planet's Nakshatra lord (Star Lord) in houses 1, 2, 10, or 11 from the Lagna? If yes: the planet gets 80 marks (Pass). Retrograde defect has minimal effect.
Strength Is the planet in Own House or Exalted, or in Parivarthana (apply Rule 3 and assign marks)? If yes: the planet gets 60 marks (Average/Pass).

Dynamic Retrograde Rules (Progressions)

This is an advanced technique. Planets don't stay as they were at birth. They change through Progressions.

Dynamic Rules

1. Direct to Retro:

Even if a planet was direct at birth, if it becomes retrograde in progression, the retrograde rules apply from that point onward.

2. Retro to Direct:

A planet that was retrograde at birth may become direct in progression.

Rule: Even if the planet becomes direct, we must use the progression position until it crosses the Natal Degree.

Example

Saturn was retrograde at 16° at birth. In progression, it became direct and reached 15°. Then we must examine 15° and apply rules accordingly. If it is direct beyond 16°, then we consider 16° itself.

Practical Example

Chart Details:

  • Planet: Rahu
  • Status: Rahu is always retrograde (Default Retro). But in RVA, Rahu/Ketu get (+) PLUS by default
  • Star Lord: Saturn
    • Saturn is retrograde (-)
    • Rahu/Ketu are not in Saturn's Nakshatra (+)
    • Saturn result = (-)
  • Final Math: Rahu (+) x Saturn (-) = (-) MINUS
  • Result: Rahu is weak (30 Marks)

Key Notes & Warnings:

  1. Sun, Moon, Rahu, Ketu never retrograde: Always assign default (+) Plus for these.
  2. Bulk Calculation: When examining a chart, apply these rules to all planets and list out which ones work and which don't beforehand.
  3. Exception Power: Even if a planet is retrograde, if its Star Lord is in houses 1, 2, 10, or 11, it gets 80% strength.

We have learned the basic plus/minus principles (Rules 1-4) of "Retrograde Math". Now let's learn how to examine this more deeply through "Exceptions" and "Dynamic Analysis".

Only with this knowledge can we predict results accurately. Otherwise, there is a danger of making errors with incomplete knowledge.

Summary & Practice

Steps to fully determine a planet's strength (Light):

  1. Static Check: Planet + Star Lord in birth chart (Minus x Minus formula).
  2. Exception Check: Is the Star Lord in houses 1, 2, 10, 11? Or is the planet exalted/own sign?
  3. Dynamic Check: Has the planet become retrograde or direct in current progressions? (Especially crucial for Mercury, Venus, Mars.)
Summary

Only by performing all three steps can we get 100% clarity on whether a planet will deliver results or not.

Yoga vs Bhava

For most Lagnas, the 8th lord is a malefic. But if the 8th lord doesn't function well, longevity suffers. This means all lords must protect their house significations - it's not about which are benefic or malefic for the Lagna.

Bhava (House) represents what we can touch and experience. Yoga is intangible, yet we desire it.

When a benefic for the Lagna retrogrades, it damages both the Bhava and Yoga results. When a malefic for the Lagna retrogrades, the Bhava deteriorates but the Yoga result improves.

When a planet has retrograde defect and its Dasha is running, if you simply avoid making forceful decisions to change what's happening, and leave things to divine will, almost everything will turn out fine.

In Western Astrology, predictions are based on the distance between two planets. Five important planetary distances are considered as aspects. Of these, two are benefic aspects and two are malefic aspects. If formed between benefic planets, it's a benefic aspect; if between malefic planets, it's a malefic aspect.

Reversal of Aspect

When a planet is retrograde or associated with Rahu/Ketu, its benefic aspects act as malefic, and its malefic aspects act as benefic.

Conclusion

For me, retrograde defect in astrology feels like a Game Changer. What you think will happen doesn't, and what you think won't happen does - it completely turns predictive astrology on its head. I have observed retrogression particularly in charts with very short time intervals.

When a planet retrogrades, it takes many days to become direct again. For example, if the 2nd lord retrogrades, we don't stop eating every day - at most there's a slight delay. In such cases, check whether the retrograde planet has moved into the 11th house for that Lagna.

Not everyone has everything in life, but in some situations when a planet retrogrades, those matters seem to favor them.

Simply put, it's like a wife who argues every day suddenly speaking very lovingly for a whole week.
